The Presidential Election from Differing Viewpoints

Politics is a major issue in America. Political issues create controversy throughout the whole nation and, at times, seemingly divides the country. The candidates in the 2020 presidential election are President Donald Trump, who is representing the Republican Party, and former Vice President Joe Biden, with the Democrat Party. During this influential election, both candidates have made every effort to gain the support of voters and to share their plans for America throughout their campaign. Although election day is on November 3rd, 2020, many Americans are already sending in their ballots through mail-in voting in order to maintain social distancing, avoid long lines, and various other reasons. This race is projected to be extremely tight and to be decided by the various swing states, which represents the division among Americans concerning politics.

Viewpoint of the election from the left:

As of October 6, 2020, Joe Biden leads President Donald Trump in general election polling with 57% compared to 41%. According to MSNBC, this is not a surprise because some believe Trump has lied to America about the Coronavirus pandemic. Biden supporters are looking for a president to take more action and honest responsibility in regards to controlling the Coronavirus pandemic in the United States. Even after testing positive for COVID-19, many democrats think that Trump has continued to downplay the virus. Biden and Harris propose to improve racial equity, unemployment, the economy, and the use of clean energy within their campaign. In regards to Coronavirus, Biden plans to enact the Biden Plan for combating the Coronavirus.

Viewpoint of the election from the center:

About half (49%) of registered voters say they are fairly satisfied with the presidential candidates, Donald Trump and Joe Biden, for the 2020 election. While others (48%) say that they are not satisfied at all, which demonstrates the vast difference in the opinions of Americans during this election. A majority of voters who support Biden plan to vote for him this November because of their dislike for the incumbent president. On the contrary, Trump supporters favor him because of his leadership and their satisfaction with his performance in the past. Many voters believe Trump and Biden take different positions on issues. In his reelection, Trump ensures his supporters that he will focus on the economy and provide a rapid COVID-19 vaccine to Americans. He also has states that he intends to address the immigration and social unrest in America. Differently, Biden says he would reverse many of Trump’s previous actions in office and that he would pursue ambitious proposals to address the pandemic, racial injustice, and climate change. The promises of both of these candidates may seem influential to the American people, but their effectiveness may ultimately be restricted because of the struggle to execute promises in Washington.

Viewpoint of the election from the right:

Recently, after being released from the Walter Reed Medical Hospital, President Trump returned to the campaign trail. Polls have consistently shown a tight race between Trump and Biden, which will only intensify as November draws closer.

Donald Trump insists that he will fulfill promises to the American people, such as growing the economy, promoting employment, rebuilding the military to keep America safe, and addressing health care and costs, if he is reelected in 2020. Compared to the 2016 election, Trump is waging a more complex campaign against his opponent. The final Presidential Debate, on October 22, 2020, will be vital for Trump to gain other supporters in his favor against Biden. There are many republicans that support Trump because they feel marginalized within their communities and believe that President Trump will represent their vision for America. Trump supporters are most worried about losing their “economic and political birthright,” as some say, if Biden is chosen, according to BBC. Many of his supporters believe he has improved businesses and the economy during his first term, which incites their belief that his efforts are helping to build up America.
