The 2020-2021 school year has brought many changes to Northern High School. The most prominent difference that this school year presents is the isolation within the halls of Northern and among the student body. This separation, which is a result of the implementation of social distancing guidelines in response to the Coronavirus pandemic, has disconnected the student body. This online newspaper was created partly as an attempt to cultivate a sense of unity during this time of isolation.

The Northern Nation News team hopes to further the feeling of community at the high school through this publication by  recognizing the thoughts of others that some students may not have considered without the newspaper, which could help to eradicate ignorance amongst the student body. The goal of this project is to properly inform students on the achievements of their peers and to effectively educate Northern on issues that are prevalent in and beyond Dillsburg. This online newspaper is meant to be informational and exciting to read for the student body, in order to develop a close community within the building as students become more understanding of each other.

I am currently a senior at Northern High School! Before the start of this school year, I reflected on my academic passion for writing and proposed an idea to Mr. Lehman that I wanted to pursue during my senior year. This proposal resulted in the creation of this student-led online newspaper. Through this newspaper, I hope to actively engage the student body, while furthering my interest in writing. Outside of the school newspaper, I am a member of the girl's soccer team and National Honors Society.

I am senior this year at Northern! I was excited when I first heard about a school newspaper starting at Northern because it would give me the chance to use writing as an outlet to express my creativity. It is important for me to have the chance to unite Northern in a new way during the circumstances of this year in regards to COVID-19. In my personal time, I play club soccer and school soccer for Northern, while I plan to play at the collegiate level. Academically, I am a part of the National Honors Society.

Currently, I am a junior at Northern. Most people who know me may regard me as being creatively inclined towards music, but I have always harbored a love for writing as well. I was looking for opportunities to increase the amount of writing I do, and the newspaper seemed perfect for that. It is my goal to expand the knowledge of students at Northern, as well as showcasing our achievements. Other activities I participate in are marching band, wind ensemble, jazz band, French club, and indoor percussion.

I am currently a senior at Northern! I am a member of the school soccer team, the National Honors Society, and the marching band. When I heard about the start of a school newspaper, I really wanted to join to help get information to all of my classmates and to share everything that is happening here at Northern. I want everyone to be able to read it and appreciate the great things their classmates are accomplishing and to stay connected through this strange year!

I am currently a sophomore at Northern High School. I have had a passion for writing from a very young age, and have worked in professional writing for several years. The school newspaper to me is a way of expressing myself in a way that is useful to my classmates and teachers, and I hope to bring our school together during these difficult times. In my free time, other than writing, I enjoy baseball, mountain biking, and traveling.

I am a junior at Northern High School. I play the cello and basketball in my free time. Also, I participate in Direct Call and Key Club. I have always loved to write and was extremely excited when I found out about the Newspaper club. It is giving me the chance to do a different form of writing, while still having time for the stories that I intend to write.
