Sophomore Honors Students Create Poems Reflective of Themselves

Mrs. McKinley's sophomore honors students piloted their poetry unit with personal poems about where they're from and who they are. Each student's poem was unique, but the following three were unique, characteristic of Dillsburg, and demonstrative of pastimes.

Jacob Eby

I am From a secluded town,

Yet there is stuff to do all around,

Skating on my board past town square,

Feeling the crisp winter air blow through my short hair.

I am from "hick" borough,

Where famers plow their fields very thorough,

Riding shotgun in my dad's bronco,

Farmers spread manure as I close my window pronto.

I live in the middle of a busy metropolis,

As I look apon the TMI standing so ominous,

A short commute to the major interstates,

Oh how many jobs the location of my town creates.

I live in a skier's paradise,

Not such much since the mountain is always covered in ice,

Where I live the weather is bipolar,

But in this small town I plan to get older.

Taedan Moyer

The name is Taedan Moyer.

Ive never thought of being a lawyer.

They call me The Tree

I take this name with glee.

Spending all day with my cousins

Gaming for hours in the dozens.

Sometimes I get headaches,

But I grind those retakes.

Ive got many obsessions,

Which caused many collections.

With 63+ Rubik's cubes

Don't call me no noob.

Livin’ in the margin of society,

In the town of pickle notoriety.

Never lived anywhere more,

Just sittin’ on the floor.

The loud sounds of shovels

because we heat our house with coal

its really annoying

especially in the morning

i am the last in line

of 4 kids

2 brothers, 1 sister

one brother afar and the others close

i love my dogs

they are so cute

they are the only ones

who don't nag at me

I am a Philly sports man

it is tough, man

the pain grows every year

yet i stay loyal somehow
