Shipping Issues

Ever since the pandemic hit, a lot of our shipping services have struggled with getting their supplies and mail and many other things to where they need to on time. Some or most manufacturers seem to be following the strategy called just-in-time. This is when manufacturers make sure that they have a consistent amount of stock, but it’s only the bare minimum so they can save space and costs. With the global lockdown with the pandemic, in the United States especially, demands have been increasing drastically.

With China closing their ports for a short amount of time in August and June, along with the US “suffering a dearth of truck drivers needed for offloading goods at docks,” they have become some disruptions that have caused the shipping schedules to become inconsistent and almost nonexistent.

With scores of ships off the coast of both China and the US with their anchors down, it brings to light that 77% of our world’s ports are currently experiencing an abnormal length of time for their turnaround times. With all of the issues that the ports are having, it seems that it will take a long time for jam in the deliveries to be cleared up.
