On October 9th, the football team had their first home football game of the 2020 season. Before the Polar Bears faced Shippensburg, the seventeen seniors on the team were honored for their commitment to the program throughout the last four years. Also, the tradition of crowning a homecoming king and queen was continued at Bostic Field. Ten students were nominated for the homecoming court by the senior class this year. Abby Bonin, Kristen Cassar, Kylie Miller, Lauren Pryor, and Erika Speicher were the nominees for the girls. Jon Barrett, Nick Fekete, Jordan Heisey, Nate McGill, and Zach Mowchan were the nominees for the boys.

These students were nominated by their classmates and, fortunately, they were able to have a ceremony that was as close to normal as possible in the midst of a pandemic. Those nominated to the court were allowed to stay and enjoy the football game, which is a privilege because of the limited number of spectators allowed at sporting events this year. Their parents got to walk them across the field and take pictures with them as the students were introduced and recognized for their involvement within the school. The continuation of this tradition demonstrates that although this school year is different, the student body can still come together to recognize their peers and promote school spirit. Congratulations to these nominees and a big congratulations to Erika Speicher and Jon Barrett on being voted as homecoming queen and king!
