The Northern Marching Band

By: Crystal Krebs

The Northern Marching Band is proud to present their 2022 show, "Midas". These young and intelligent men and women have been spending weeks on end learning drill, music and work to put out on the field to represent our schools. Every Tuesday and Thursday, our Marching Band practices on the band field right across from the middle school. Through sunshine, rain, warm weather or cold weather, you will see them out there working hard.

A big thank you goes out to all of the Northern Marching Band officers for everything they put together to make this season successful. Not only the officers, but all the instructors and band directors for taking the time to teach and give every individual skill. To show them and give them the experience to be a part of the Marching Band.

This weekend of 09/24/2022, our Northern Marching band had competed at the Big Spring football stadium. They showed up and performed their hearts out with putting on a brilliant show! Their only opponent was South Western from Hanover, PA. The Marching Band started off this season strong, coming home with three first place wins. Including an overall score of 80.390, just enough to beat South Western with a score of 79.250. While not only bringing home an overall win, the percussion brought home a win with having the highest percussion score of 16.3/20 as well as the color guard bringing home a win with the highest color guard score of 16.5/20.

Moving into the month of October, our Northern Marching Band is going to be competing more on the weekends. Here are the dates of events happening for the October month. October 8th they compete at Eastern York, October 22nd they compete at Wilson and October 29th they compete at Cumberland Valley. With our Friday nights continuing for Football, come out and watch our Marching Band perform October 7th against East Penn at half-time, October 14th against Susquehanna Township at half-time, October 21st at home against Gettysburg with a pre-game performance and October 28th against Mechanicsburg at half-time.

Come out as the season goes on to watch our talented group of kids perform pre-game, half time and at competitions. The bands show "Midas" is about a gentleman who is starting to realize his powers. Where everything he touches turns into gold. Our Northern Marching Band "King Midas" is played by a Northern senior, Josh Bissel. Now come on out and show your love and support for our Bears!
