Both the SATs and ACTs are stressful tests. Maybe you got your results back already, or maybe you did not. Even waiting for the results can be stressful! In all of the chaos, you may find yourself asking what people do after the tests. If so, I am here to help!
If you are waiting for the results, celebrate! Congratulate yourself for taking a harder test. Stressing over your results is never going to change your results. The wiser thing to do is to either avoid thinking about the test if the temptation of stress is too hard, or to at least avoid thinking about how you did. Thinking about how you did is almost always setting yourself up for failure. Sometimes, you may think you did perfect but you actually failed, and vice versa. Regardless of the results, like mentioned earlier, you should be proud of yourself and your accomplishments!
If you have the results, make the decision for yourself how you feel about them. Each test day means a different test result, and those test results do not define you. It is okay to retake them if you are unhappy; in fact, retaking them is very common! Most students retake their SATs or ACTs at least once before their scores are submitted to colleges. If you are unhappy with your results, try studying this time. Finding time to study is a struggle, but it is proven to greatly help scores. Take the test as many times as you can.
Once you are content with the scores, know which colleges/universities you want to send them to. Make sure that the colleges/universities you choose are reasonable, achievable goals for you. Sending your scores does cost money, but there are many sources that exist to financially aid you. Your list should not have too many colleges/universities, as you should be financially wise.
Your journey is not done after you send in your scores, rather, it just started, so good luck! All of the daunting tasks in life can seem overwhelming, but just take it one step at a time.
