I would first like to start off with thanking everyone who took the survey the counselors posted on their Schoology pages. I’m thrilled to see the responses that I received and the number of people who filled it out. I was curious about people’s opinions about Christmas trees. I know that there are people who have a real tree while there are others that have a fake tree. I thought that this poll would be a fun an interesting way of gathering responses from my fellow peers.
The first question that I was on the poll was a multiple-choice question asking for your response for if you preferred a fake Christmas tree or a real one. Out of the total responses, 60% of the responded prefer a real tree over the 39% that prefer fake trees and the 1% that don’t like either. I honestly prefer a real tree myself. I like having the smell of the tree in the house. Though, I can see how some people would prefer a fake tree because it isn’t as much work to take care of, people with allergies won’t have to worry, it isn’t as had to clean up in the end and it can be reused for years to come.
The next question was also multiple-choice about the kind of Christmas tree you have at home. It seems as thought most of you prefer a real tree, 56% of you have a fake tree at home. Then again, I can understand that some families prefer the fake tree to save money and are easier to take care of as I mentioned previously. There are 35% that have a real tree, 7% who either have a real tree or fake one depending, and 2% that don’t have either. I kind of mentioned it before, but I do have a real tree that my family will get every year. We used to have a fake tree, however my one cat from years ago climbed to the top and make an indented whole from where he circled at the top and we eventually decided to get real trees from now on to keep the cats out.
Everyone has a different point in time that they buy/put up their Christmas tree. My family and I go out no earlier than the first week or two of December. There seemed to be a large amount of people who put it up on Thanksgiving or that very weekend. Others say that they started going through the process in the first couple weeks of December or just December.
My last question that I had on the poll was what the best time to decorate the tree. It normally takes my family at least a couple days to a week at least to decorate the tree after putting it up, so I was curious on what other people do. I have seen quite a few different responses for this one. The main two seeming to be right after you put up the tree you can start decorating it and anytime after Thanksgiving. There were some other answers of people saying anytime in December, at least give it a day to sit for dead needles to drop, and just anytime everyone can get together.
