Though 2020 and 2021 have been challenging, winter sports are still going on. Everyone has had to make drastic changes, and it has greatly affected the junior varsity and varsity girls basketball teams. The girls are still pushing through the adversity, though, thankful that they can even play at all. Currently, the varsity team has won three games and lost three games, but there are still many games to come. COVID has brought the teams closer together, and during the games the players are able to focus on winning another division title for our school. Basketball is an outlet that can distract from the stress and uncertainty of the coronavirus. There are only two seniors on the varsity girls basketball this year, Katie Ryan and Quinlyn Fisher. Katie Ryan wishes that in the future when things clear up more, the girls would have more student section support. When thinking about sports, we naturally think about male sports, which is something that we should change. The girls deserve just as much support as the boys do because they play just as hard. Another way to support the athletic department is making sure you talk with your friends about the sports teams to make sure you know who is playing sports so you can cheer them on, even without actually being at their games like previous years
