This 2020 season has been special for the Northern Boys soccer team, as they knocked off Fleetwood at home, becoming District 3A Champions on Tuesday, November 10th. Two goals from Ashton Davies secured the victory and their journey to win a State Championship. On November 7th, the Polar Bears redeeming win against Lower Dauphin, whom they lost to last year in the District Finals, led them to the District Finals by 4-2. Goals scored from Shep Sossion (2), Connor Swope, and Spencer Siverling, and an assist from Ashton Davies propelled the team to the finals. The team has had an enormous amount of success this season, with a record of 19-1-1. Shutouts, including their game against Fleetwood, from Josh Hoffman and the strong defense in front of him have allowed the offense to create some game-changing opportunities for the team.
Connor Swope Celebrates His Goal in the State Final
The Northern Boys soccer team is not done yet, as they moved past the State Quarterfinals with a 4-3 victory against Selinsgrove after starting their state’s run. Northern’s team has dominated this season, fighting until the end to create many opportunities that have ended the game in victory for them. The Polar Bears advanced to the PIAA 3A state soccer championship game against Mars on Friday, November 20, in the Hersheypark Stadium, after defeating Upper Moreland 4-1. The teams were tied 1-1 in the first half, but an incredible second half created three more goals for Northern’s team, put in by Swope, Soisson and Zach French. In the 3A State Championship, the Polar Bears fought until the end, falling to Mars 2-1. Although it was not what the Northern Boys Soccer team hoped for, they became State Finalists, making history for the team. Amidst the challenges of the season, the boys had an incredible run, having an undefeated regular season and making it to the finals. This accomplishment by the team is huge for the town too, as it does not happen often. Great job boys, we are proud of you!
